To provide gist listening practice using a text about things you can't live without in the context of things you'd hate living without
Procedure (23-31 minutes)
- show the student some things you can't live without and tell them why ? - tell the students that they are going to speak together about primary things in their life that they can't live without and why ?
- Get the students' attention - Tell the students that you are going to listen to 6 people speaking about things they can't live without - chest the HO - tell the students you are going to complete the the table in the first column write the object in the second column write how did he/she describe it ? in the third column why it's important to him/her - monitor - Feedback
- Elicit from the students the useful language - Clarify its meaning and how strong is it - Drill the pronunciation
- Tell the students you are going to write down some things you can't live without , how'd you describe it , why is it important ? - Chest the HO and set a time limit 2 minutes max - Give the students the HO - Monitor - Put the students in groups of 3 - Speak together about the tings you've written - Monitor - Feedback
