To provide students with practice in speaking for fluency and accuracy in the context of a text about best places ever stayed.
Procedure (37-45 minutes)
T will give Ss a HO to review/introduce key vocabulary to ensure comprehension during reading text about best places to stay according to Katherine, James, Harry, Diana and Alan. Ss will peer check in pairs. T will review WC. T will put on the WB: When I stay somewhere, I like it to have...................... When I stay somewhere, I don't care if it has..................or not. Ss in pairs will use sentence prompt to practice speaking for fluency and accuracy.
T will show Ss five pictures of places to stay on vacation. Ss will choose the one that looks like a place they would like to stay. T will give Ss two questions to discuss--"Which place would you most like to stay? Why?" Ss will pair up and discuss their choices with their partner.
T will give Ss the text "The best place I've ever stayed" with the task of matching the text with the appropriate pictures. Ss will have 3 minutes to read the text. Ss will work in pairs/groups to complete task and discuss their choices. T will elicit from Ss the answer and the reasoning behind their decisions. WCF.
T will give Ss HO with varying types of questions--fill-ins, yes/no questions and "WH" questions. Ss will be instructed to quickly review questions. Ss will be given task of reading and completing the task. Ss will pair up and check their answers. T will review WC and elicit from Ss the reasoning behind their answers.
T will have Ss pair up and practice speaking for fluency and accuracy. T will use WB to demonstrate: What is the best place you have ever stayed? Why? What place would you like to go? Why.
