Procedure (45-59 minutes)
The teacher talks about previous experience of buying food from a grocery. He sets the scene by asking questions to elicit meaning.
SS listen for 2 conversations between a customer and a shop assistant about buying things from the shop. SS have to listen and fill in gaps.
T. draws attention to the use of demonstratives and the use of varied functions related to buying things.
T. Clarifies the meaning of words through different ways. He draws their attention to pronouncing "th" sound. Also, he draws the structure of using demonstratives with be.
T. prepares students to role-play the conversations in pairs.
For a free practice, SS close books and talk freely as a shop assistant and a customer in front of the classroom. The teacher monitors.
SS have time to practice freely the role of a shop assistant and a customer.
