Main Aims

To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about two women who travelled from Thailand to the UK by a tuk-tuk in the context of amazing journeys
Subsidiary Aims

To give students the opportunity to write about their experience within the past simple tense in the context of travelling.

To allow sts to revise their previously known vocabularies and to introduce key vocabulary in preparation for the reading activities in the context of 'amazing journeys'
Procedure (40-50 minutes)
T shows the flashcards to the Ss and elicit the words from the Ss. T will ask Ss to talk within pairs about what kind of transportation do the Ss use out of the flashcards. T will write a sentence on WB and will ask the students to tell the verb in the sentence then T will underline the verb, it will be demo for the next practice. T will chest the HO for underline activity, ask them to underline the verb, will ask to pair-check after the activity. T will elicit the answers. T will chest the HO for the activity 2. Will do the example on the board. Then ask Ss to write their sentences. T will write the sentences on the board while the Ss are busy with the task. T will ask them to pair-check, then will give the early finishers markers to pass their sentences on the WB.
T will show the flashcard for Tuk-tuk and will elicit from Ss for its name and it's function in 'Thailand'. Then T will pre-teach 'a journey' by showing the journey map of the two women in the activity and 'to raise money for charity' by giving examples / using mimics and gestures.
T will chest the HO showing only the photo and ask Ss to talk with their pairs about the photo. T will elicit some ideas. Then T will ask them to unfold the HO, and to read the article in 1 minute. After they finish, T will elicit the ideas again about the article. Then T will put the photo of the book 'Tuk-Tuk to the Road' on the WB.
T will chest the HO, T will do the examples with the Ss on WB. Then ask them to read the article again and to complete the table with the correct dates, places and numbers. While they are busy with reading, T will put the colorful papers on which the exercises are printed on the WB for feedback. After they finish, T will ask them to pair-check. Then T will ask Ss to do the answers on the WB as feedback.
T will ask Ss to write 5 sentences about their experiences. T will tell the possible ideal sentences. When the Ss finish, T will ask them to mingle in front of the class and tell their sentences to the others.
