Procedure (32-45 minutes)
Set the context of weekend activities. Ask students "What do you do at the weekends?" Provide them some examples such as "go to the cinema, do sport." Give them 1 min to talk to their partners then take some answers from some of the students in 1 minute.
Put the pictures of weekend activities on the door in advance and deliver the cut-up words to students. Each student comes and sticks his/her word(s) to the door. Instructions: There are ten pictures on the door, and ten words you will match with. I will give one (or two) word(s) and you will come and stick it to the correct picture. Model the instruction first, then start the activity. Have students check the answers and ask if there are any mistakes/questions. Whole class feedback takes place, justify some answers from students. Then, deliver the handout 1 to the students and ask them to put the words in the correct place.Have them work individually then let them check their answers with their partners. T: Fill in the gaps with these words individually, you have 4 minutes.
Project the answer key on WB to highlight the target vocabulary
Teacher clarifies meanings of " have a cold" "do the washing" by using gestures. After the meaning is clarified,Teacher presents form and pronunciation through a presentation. There are 6 vocabulary items to teach. Model and drill the words in meaningful sentences chorally and individually.
Provide students hand out 2 including mechanical practices prepared by teacher. Give them 3 mins to complete the task. Let them compare their answers after they finish. During the feedback of hand out 2, ask students to nominate each other for the answers, provide the answer key by sticking at the back of their chairs.
Provide them HO3 including jumbled sentences. Ask Ss to work individually and to put the words into correct order in 5 minutes. Students check their answers with their pairs. T: "Put the words into correct order." Model the instruction. For feedback, show the answer key on the WB and check the accuracy for the next freer activity. Clarify the form of two sentences.
Give Ss HO4 and ask them to write their answers to the questions on the HO on which there are the same questions with HO3. Give them 2 minutes to write their answers as yes or no.Tell them they are to write their friends' answers with their names as well. Then have them stand up and ask these questions to each other. T: Read the same questions again and write your answers with yes or no in 2 mins. T: Now ask the questions to your friends and write their answers with their names. Model the instruction on the board.
