Description
In this lesson, Ss learn about the difference between the past simple and past continuous through guided discovery based on a story called (The Mysterious Stalker). The lesson starts with a discussion about the story. This is followed by controlled practice and free practice exercises.

Procedure (18-30 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (1-2 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students
Starting the lesson with an engaging activity.
Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language
Watching a related video
Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice
doing the video exercises that we have already watched.
Grammar Introduction PPT (3-5 minutes) • To inroduce past simple and past continuous
T presents slideshows clarifying the main uses of each tense and when they are used together.
Free Practice (1-2 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language
T asks the Ss to work with their partners to practice the target language.
Controlled Practice (4-6 minutes) • To concept check further and make sure the the Ss got the point of the lesson!
T provides Ss with worksheets to complete the story with simple past or past continuous.
Evaluation (4-6 minutes) • Feedback
Ss do the worksheet practice online on the smart-board and check their answers. T provide feedback and explanation if needed.
