Procedure

Intro (4-5 minutes) • To learn the Ss' names

Teacher introduces herself then reads the Ss’ name cards and pins up the name cards on them. T asks Ss to get in a circle and to wait for the rest of the class. After this, while they are in the circle,T introduces the puppet ‘’Emilie’’and the Ss start to introduce themselves to Emilie. T tells the Ss whenever they see Emilie, they have to say ‘’hi Emilie!’’ and stay quiet.

Lead in (5-6 minutes) • To revise the food names/ To be aware of the unknown/known words

(while they are in the circle) To be aware of the unknown/known words, T puts the flashcards on the floor and tells the Ss to imagine that they were in a supermarket. T asks Ss which food they would buy. Ss tell the food names that they know. Ss go back to their seats and T elicits the new words. (If in need, drilling can be done for the new words)

(If time) Controlled practice of the vocabulary (2-3 minutes) • to give them an opportunitiy to practise the food names

(If time) T hands out the flashcards and asks the Ss to walk around the classroom without speaking. When they come across with their friends, first they say their food name and then their friends’ food name. At the end, T asks the Ss the foods they have seen. CCQs: Will you speak while you are walking around? (NO) What will I ask you at the end of the activity? (The food names)

Controlled practice of the vocabulary (7-8 minutes) • to give them an opportunitiy to practise the food names

Ss play a game called ‘’Flip Flop’’. Flip Flop: T hangs up the flashcards on the w/b and divides the class into 2 groups. T: ‘’I’ve got two ‘’hands’’, I’ll choose one person from each group. I’ll give the ''hands'' and call out one of the names of the foods on the board." When they hear the word, Ss tap on the flashcard with the ‘’hand’’. The one who taps first gets 1 point for his/her group. T does a demo first. (If time, after few practices, one of them calls out the names)

Focus on the TL-Listening (7-8 minutes) • to give them an opportunitiy to practise the TL and the song

To learn the TL, Ss listen to/watch a song/video clip called ‘’I like chicken’’ 2 times. T goes through the song by using the ‘’yummy-yucky face’’ and pointing the flashcards in order to make the song clear. Ss try to sing the song.

Controlled Practice of the TL (5-5 minutes) • to give them an opportunitiy to practise the TL

After the song, drilling is performed by using the yummy-yucky face.

(If time)Semi-controlled practice of the TL (3-3 minutes) • to give them an opportunitiy to think about the words individually(especially for the visual Ss)

(If time) T hands out ‘’yummy or yucky’’ pages and asks the Ss to draw the food they like or they don’t like. (If time) Ss color their drawings. (If there isn't enough time, this page can be given as HW)

(If time)Semi-controlled speaking (5-5 minutes) • To give them an opportunitiy to practise the food names and TL

(If time) When the Ss finish the drawing, T asks them to work in pairs. Ss tell their partners the food they like/don’t like and show their drawings. (If time) T asks the Ss to show and present their drawings
