Description
In this receptive skill lesson, students will practice listening for gist, specific information and detail in the context of money. They will also learn some useful language and practice reading and speaking as a follow up

Main Aims

To provide Ss with practise the integrated skills of listening for gist, specific information and detail, and reading for detail in the context of spending or saving

Procedure (36-45 minutes)
Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To get Ss interested and transition from the previous lesson
I will ask Ss: How careful are you with money? w/b feedback
Pre-Listening (4-5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible by pre-teaching blocking vocab
Pre-teach blocking vocab by giving Ss a matching activity (Ho 1) w/c FB
Listening 1 – gist & specific information (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information tasks
Ask Ss to listen and find out how many of them are savers. Peer check w/c FB
Listening #2 (12-15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening task
Give then HO 2 and ask them to read A-F Ask Ss to listen again and match speakers 1-6 with A-F Peer check w/c FB
Post-Listening (10-12 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
Ask Ss to discuss which speaker they agree with in groups of 3. Give Ss HO4 to read and answer the qs on their own. discuss in pairs/groups what they think their answers show. Give them HO5 to read the answers on p 104 to check if they were right.
