Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide detailed and specific information through a listening practice using a text about life stories in the context of a certain person.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide students with a task based approach to listening using recorded material in order to improve the students speaking abilities.
Procedure (51-65 minutes)
In order to revise the language form the last class (past time phrases), I will ask the students questions about what they did yesterday, last week or during their last holiday. I will not let this go on for too long or allow for any of the stronger students to dominate the conversation. in order to get them chatting, I will tell them what I did on the weekend. (on Saturday I went on a Bosphorus cruise with my friends) - I will use an image to elicit this.

Students will listen to an audio based on a person's life story. Maria is narrating the story of her cousin, Alice. Students listen to the recording and put the photos in the correct order. Check in pairs and then as a class over the answers and discuss any feedback on the WB.
Give Ss time to read through the heading from the handout so they know what they have to listen for. Listen to the audio a second time. Ss makes notes and then check in pairs. Feedback will follow, corrections where necessary.
Give Ss a few minutes to read through the phrases in the Useful language box. Ss listen to audio again, and tick the phrases they hear. Ss are going to tell a life story about themselves. Use handout (choose the correct answer) to give some ideas for sentences. Ss to construct about 6 sentences or facts about themselves. Ss work in pairs to talk about themselves. Teacher to circulate and make a note of good language to praise later, followed my DEC on the WB from any errors noticed.
