To provide scan and detailed reading practice using a text about places and people in the context of a person's idea about Britain
Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of places and people in their own country.
Procedure (31-45 minutes)
They are going to see a picture of Starbucks. As they know what it is, they will talk about what people can do in a Starbucks cafe.
The students will see some pictures from different places and different people. They will talk in groups about where the places are and what people do in those places.
The students see the pictures of the article that are numbered. They try to match the given phrases with the pictures.
The students are going to listen to the article. They listen once, and try to say what they have understood from the article (first to their partners and then the teacher).
The students are going to listen to the article again and try to mark the given sentences as True or False individually. Then they will compare their answers with their partners and then it will be checked with the class.
They are going to read the article again and look for some given verbs in the text. They will try to guess the meaning of each verb in groups.
The students will discuss their guesses about the meaning of the verbs with the class and the teacher will clarify the meaning when needed.
