Main Aims

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Tell students that there are a lot of things we can't live without and tell them a personal example that I can't live without my mobile phone , i know it is a very bad thing that waste my time and make me anti-social one but I'm trying to get rid of this . 2- Ask students ' what are the things they can't live without ? ' 3-Ask them to check their answers in pairs . 4-Ask them about each other .

Pre-Reading (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

1-Give the students the instructions about Ho1 that about which of these do they have experience before ?Do they feel positively about them? why ?why not? 2- Tell them a personal experience that I worked as a call center in a travel agency before and I don't feel positively about it as there were many people complained about the services there . 3- Ask them to discuss in pairs . 4- pr-teach new vocabulary by CCQs like - anti-social that one who are not friendly to others . - filling your time is to spend time . - staring at is to look at someone or something for a long time with your eyes wide open . - flick through is to look quickly through something . - PC - show off is to attract attention . - waiting on hold to put you on hold until he had found a solution . - text speak is the kind of language contains short forms of words . - frustrating means feeling of anger .

While-Reading #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading tasks

1- Give the students the HO2 and ask them to scan it in a minute . 2-Tell the Students about the reading text ,It's an article written by someone who doesn't like modern machines . 3-Ask them to read for gist and match the headings in the Ho2 with the seven paragraphs . 4- Monitor and help when needed . 5-check the answers as a class.

While-Reading #2 (14-16 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed reading tasks

1-Give the students HO3 and ask them to a quick reading of the questions . 2- Ask them to read for detailed individually . 3-ask them to check answers in pairs . 4- check answers as a class .

Post-Reading (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

1- Tell the students about personal things that make me like technology for example it saves a lot of time when you want to send anything now it is very easy that just by clicking on file you can send it where ever you want . 2- put them in pairs and ask them if they like technology or not ? and what are the reasons ? 3- Monitor and help if needed . 4- Ask Students about each other's opinion .
