In this session, SS will do some listening task about driving and dangers

Materials

Abc Unit 3A

Main Aims

  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about Dangers in the context of Driving

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of dangers in the context of driving

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T asks some questions from SS about Driving and Driving License for example: .Do you like driving? .Do you know how to drive a car? .Do you have a driving license? .what are the dangers when you drive a car?

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-13 minutes) • To prepare students for the listening and make it accessible

T provides some vocabulary: Simulator-SatNav-Hazardous-Fatal (3m) T asks Ss to read text on page 27 (5m) T asks Ss to answer question 1-2-3 with their pairs and then share their ideas (5m)

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

T Plays the audio track for Ss (5m) and then asks them to number the activities from 1 to 7 in groups. then share their idea. (5-7m) Repeat audio track if necessary

While-Reading/Listening #2 (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T plays the audio track again and then ask students to provide more details for each activity and reason for each one (in groups)

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Based on section 7 (Speaking) T separate SS into 2 groups then gives 3 topic cards to each group and asks them to discuss whether they agree with cards or not and why? (7-8m) but first T provides one topic cards as a model (1-2m)
