Procedure (38-48 minutes)
I will show the students a picture of A famous character " Ahmed Zaki" who died and elicit from the SS " He was a famous actor" . Then i will focus on the photo of Mount Rushmore with the heads of four famous US Presidents. Elicit that they are all presidents of the USA. Then I will get the SS in pairs to try to match the names with the surnames. Then i will play the CD and the SS will listen and match. After that I will elicit the grammar structure from the SS "He was President of The united States. / His parents were very rich."
I will elicit that "was" is the past of is and were is the past of are. Then i will ask the student to tell more sentences about themselves using the past . Then i will ask the SS to answer Ex a page 52 alone then they check in pairs their answers. After that i will shoe them the answer key.
Page 52 ex b . In this exercise, i will give the SS the instructions that they have to work in pairs and to change the sentences from the present to the past. Then i will give them the sheets. i will monitor the SS while answering the exercise give help if it necessary. Finally, i will show them the answer key.
Page 53 ex a : In this exercise, Focus ss' attention on the PowerPoint pictures and try to elicit as much information from them as possible. Elicit, concept check, drill and write (if necessary) the following vocabulary: pianist soldier leader politician Most of this vocabulary will be in the form of pictures or presented through miming. Then i will ask the SS to work in pairs and and complete the biographies with the names of people and the countries they were from.
page 53 ex 6 : In this exercise, i will divide the class into groups and ask them to decide who they think are the top three people of all the time in their country. I will ask the SS to speak and i'll monitor them then each group will say to the rest of the class whom did they choose and why.
