Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide accuracy and fluency to sts' speaking in the context of making decisions, offers, and promises.
Procedure (41-48 minutes)
Without saying anything, I will draw blank lines folIowed by "back". Then I will introduce myself to the new sts and let them introduce themselves to me and the other sts. I plan to have short warm up conversations.
I will have a so-called telephone conversation with my mom. In this conversation, I will use all the verbs with back. Then I am going ask the sts if they can remember some of the verbs they have heard and if they can do it, I will write them in the blanks that I've written on the board. After that I will give the conversation on paper to the sts.
Just like the name of the content, I will tell sts to highlight, circle, or underline the verbs with "back" on the paper. They will work in pairs.
I am going to make sure that the sts have understood the meanings of the verbs because they will need them in the following exercise.
To review the same verbs with "back", I will give sts a gap-filling exercise.
We will have an exercise about making decisions, offers, and promises. I will give them a list of sentences that they will have to respond to those. Their answers may vary according to their experiences or feelings.
I will ask sts what they have learned today and I will let them summarize it. They can use back with many verbs such as send, go, put, bring, and so on.
