pre-teaching the new vocabulary in a listening context
Procedure (29-50 minutes)
The students are going to watch a very short video so that i can elicit the word: Spy stories. They have been told about this word on Lizzie's lesson. I ask them to talk with their partner and say if they like to watch these type of film? yes or no? why or why not.
I am going to pre-teach these blocking vocabulary beforehand so that they can understand the listening part: Navy licence Make a lot of money. I need to show them some pictures on the board to make them clear. I also need to elicit these words after drilling them and writing on the board.
They are going to listen to the the beginning of a radio interview with the writer,Will Forbes. and they should choose the correct answer. After doing it, they are going to check in pairs.
They are going to listen again for more details and do exercise 8. they should listen and fill in the gaps. It has 2 parts. part a and part b... part a is fill in the gap and part b is for listening again and saying if Did is stressed or unstressed in past simple questions. They should check their answers with their partner and also the group to see if they did correctly or not. They should listen to the whole listening for interview and answer questions in 8a after that they should listen again and find 4 things that are true for Ian Fleming and James Bond. After doing this part they will be asked to check their answers again with their pair and in group.
They will be asked to look at the transcription paper of listening and compare their whole answers based on that paper. They are going to have an interview with each other. they should one of the photos of famous Turkish authors and imagine they are one of them and they are going to ask him/her some questions. first they write their questions like 4 questions ( 2 starting with Did and the other starting with Wh qurstions) and then they should ask them and write down their answers. I should make a sample for them so they know what are they going to interview.
