Description
Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide clarification, review and practice of prepositions of places in the context of Haunted hotel
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a free activity (prepositions of places) in the context of hunted hotel
Procedure (29-45 minutes)
I will ask students if they lost anything before and they felt that that place where they lost thing if it's hunted. And where did they find the thing in the end. this way I will raise the interest of the lesson and they will start mentioning some of the TL in an indirect way. So they will be more prepared for the lesson.
in this stage I will provide a story of myself about what I do when I wake up and where I put my stuff and how many times I lost then and where I find the eventually. Again I exposed LS to the target language but this time I highlighted TL through a real story with an entertainment technique.
now I am going to explain the "preposition of places" vocabulary by drawing them on the board and providing some visuals to elicit the meaning. I will draw ghosts and squares with different positions of the ghost then explain the words: In (preposition) /ɪn/ On (preposition) /ɑːn/ Under (preposition) /ˈʌn.dɚ/ Behind (preposition) /bɪˈhaɪnd/ Between (preposition) /bɪˈtwiːn/ Opposite (preposition) /ˈɑː.pə.zɪt/ Next to (preposition) /ˈnekst tə/ In front of ( ) Over ( preposition) /ˈoʊ.vɚ/
First control practice I will ask them to go through activity 1 page.51 fill in the gaps. ( new English file-workbook). Then another practice activity 1 page.66 matching (new English file-students book). After that we will go through the free practice by asking the where do they put their stuff like (keys- phones-teeth brush etc...) to give them the chance to speak and use the words we have learned in this lesson.
as they were speaking I will listen perceptively to them and take notes, and after they finish I will correct some of the errors they fell into while they were describing where their stuff were in the previous free activity.
