Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss will see a photo of Carol from previous activity of the book and will answer their guess of who is she. 1m Ss will read the text. 1m Elicite what is the text about. 1m Give FB

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Ss will find the verbs in the text and group them as regular and irregular. 1m A student will come to the board and show the verbs. 1m Elicite using of present simple in talking about daily routine Elicite the using -s, and -es when we are talking about he, she, it. 2m Monitor - Give FB and error correction if necessary 1m

Highlighting (4-5 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Ss will check the bold verbs fromthe text and complete Ex 4b. 1m Ss will check their answers in pairs. 1m A student come to the board and show the correct form. 1m Elicit the different spelling rules. 1m Monitor, Give FB, error correction if necessary

Clarification (5-6 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Elicit using negative form EX4C. 2m Elicit the "be" verb as the exception by using model sentences. 2m Listen to the pronunciation in EX5 of the model sentences. 2m Give FB

Controlled Practice (6-7 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Ss will do EX6a as controlled practice. 1m Ss will come to the board and write down the answers 2m Ss will listen to EX5b and drill the pronunciation of the verbs 2m monitor, Give FB, error correction if necessary 1m

Semi-Controlled Practice (7-8 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Ss will do activity 7a alone. 2m Ss will do a peer check. 1m Ss will see the answer from the board.1m Elicit the reasoning the answers for 14, 15, 16. 1m Ask ss a question: What Carol and Tom do on Modays? 1m Listen for answer. 1m monitor, give FB

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss will do EX7b as two different groups. 2m Ss will check the answer from the answer sheet. 1m Ss will find another pair to practice. 2m If Ss finish they mingle to find other pairsto practice. 2m Monitor, Give FB 1m
