Main Aims

  • To provide students with clarification and practice of the singular form of 'to be' in yes/no questions and short answers in the context of personal information.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practise jobs and nationalities vocabulary
  • To give students practice in speaking for accuracy

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

As this lesson is a follow on from the previous lesson: -using the projector show the picture on the board. -ask the Ss what they remember about the characters on the board. -Draw the chart on the board Gary Marco Emma Sofia country Australia Mexico France Italy job a doctor a musician a teacher an actress

Highlighting (4-8 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

Give each student handouts. Get them tick the correct answers. Divide the class into pairs Make peercheck Feedback together with the whole class

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

One by one the handouts A&B are given the students Pair work will be done for the semi-controlled activity For Student A:Look at the photo. Ask your partner about 1,3,5.Write down the answers. For Student B:Look at the photo. Ask your partner about 2,4,6.Write down the answers. In the second part, Work with your partner; ask questions about the people.
