Main Aims

To work on listening skills, learning new vocabulary in the context of listening, and then free use of target language. This lesson is focused on listening skills. I am going to have some reviewing and examples about the word ‘obsession’ which they’ve been working on it during their past classes and works on speaking skills, and then I will work on some new vocabularies in the context of listening. This will lead them into the meaning, form, pronunciation of the new words and usage of them in daily speaking. In the end I’m going to have more free practice on the topic in the context of speaking the context of speaking.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide accuracy speaking practice of new vocabularies, and the subject ‘obsession’ in the context of driving.
Procedure (36-27 minutes)
1. Greeting and asking the new students names. Have a review on obsessions. 2. Draw a cline that describes the obsessions degree. (Interested in, keen on, crazy about, and obsessed with). Explaining the negative aspects of obsession. CCQ should be done. 3. Ask them about their obsessions.
Chest read the paper and explain the first activity, ICQ should be done. 1. Ask two students to read column A and B. 2. Check if they know the meaning of ‘cozy’ and ‘choking’. If not try to elicit or ask one that knows to explain. CCQ. 3. They will listen to the CD and match column A to B. 4. Ask them to be in pairs and check their answers together. 5. Give the correct answer to the class.
Chest read and ICQ for the second activity. 1. Ask them to listen to the tape again, so that they can answer the true or false questions. 2. Compare their answers with a partner. 3. Listen to the CD again, and check the correct answers with the class.
Chest read the activity. ICQ, give them the transcript to use if needed.
They’ll discuss the sentences, and give examples of their own similar stories.
