To provide controlled speaking practice of the target language.
Procedure (33-48 minutes)
- Introduce myself by asking "Do you remember my name? and follow up by asking individual students , "Do you know his name?" "What is your name?" - Short game. Fill a bag with items from students and bring them out one at a time asking "Is this your pen"? "Is this your book?"
Write down on WB list of Subject pronouns and below their corresponding possessive adjectives. Give definition and rules of use.
Give a demo of the use of both SP and PA such as I like my sandwich or You like your salad, pointing to the relevant word on the board as you go and then ask the students to come up with their own examples.
Write down on the WB some sentences with mistakes and ask the students and ask for them to provide corrections. Linda has a new car - His car has two doors. Do you know where me book is? This is my book and that is your. (your book) Ask the students to explain why the sentences are wrong.
Write on WB the list of the contractions below their corresponding possessive adjectives. Get student to practice in pairs Exercise 1 followed by answers and corrections.
With the help of the hand out, and after using the right option, student will role play the text in pairs. If time their will be a pair of demonstrating students with a third student pointing on the board the correct use of the word.
Write on WB Sample questions and answers. My name ..... What is your name. My phone number is .... What is your Email? My name is..... Do you know her name? Move around the room and listen into their conversation and language accuracy.
