- T displays the picture of "water" on the projector. - T asks SS about the first thing that comes to their mind when they see the picture of water. - SS, in pairs, discuss the following questions which are displayed on the projector. 1. Why do we need to drink water? 2. Do people need less water when the weather's cold? 3. Can we drink too much water? 4. how much water do we need to drink a day? 5. Do Coke and coffee make us dehydrated? - T asks the questions to the whole class, rather than having SS work in pairs, and help them to express their answers.
- T elicits the new words by giving definitions, showing pictures, or context clues (temperature, fact, myth, swear, experience, recently, contain and at least) - T drills the new words. - T writes the new words on the whiteboard.
- T gives SS six headings (1-6). - T asks SS to read the headings in thirty seconds and the paragraphs of the text in 120 seconds. - Get SS to match the headings to paragraph. - T emphasizes that SS are going to read quickly. - SS answer individually, then check their answers in pairs. - T displays the answer key on the whiteboard and the wall.
- T gives SS questions (1-6). - T asks SS to read the text carefully (emphasizes that SS are going to read for detail) to answer the questions. - T sets SS five minutes to read and find the answers. - T will monitor SS and provide help if needed. - SS checks their answers in pairs. - T provides the answer key on the board and on the wall.
- T gets SS to match the highlighted words in the text with phrases in ex.4, Student's Book. - T monitors and provides help if needed. - SS check their answers in pairs. - T provides the answer key on the board and on the wall. - T gets SS to complete the sentences with these words in the box ex.4, Work Book. - Get SS to look again at the questions. In pairs, they should try to answer them from their memory. - Get SS to discuss the questions with the teachers if I have enough time.
