Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in/Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will tell a story about my life. My name is Zafer Ozdemir. I was born in Istanbul in 1981. My uncle is a poet. I am the nephew of a well-known writer. I graduated from the university of Mersin. I am attendin the CELTA classes for my career.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will write some words: to study, novelist, cricketer, poem, sofa , to phone up, to admire, so that students can be familiar with. Then ı will explain them briefly and write their forms: adjectives, nouns, etc. Later, I will do a couple drills to practice pronunciation. After each word, I will ask CCQs about them.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-8 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will ask students a couple of questions: What might the topic be? Who are the speakers in the reading? What is the relationship between the speakers? What do they do?

While-Reading/Listening #2 (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will ask some detailed questions; for example, Who is Ed Smith? Ed Smith is whose son? What does Vikram do? What personality does he have?/ What is he like? Years later where did Vikram meet Ed Smith?

Post-Reading/Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will focus on new vocabularies in the reading: adventurous, creative, funny, hard-working, independent, intelligent, outgoing and serious. If any word that students do not know comes up, I will tell the meaning, form and pronunciation.

Controlled/Freer Practice • To talk about students' friends, family and colleagues in their life.

I will get students to write the names of five people in their life, how they are like by using personality adjectives we covered today. I will not interrupt their speaking until they stop talking to each other. On the other hand, I will jot some notes down for remedial work during their speeches. Later I will just recap briefly on what we did.
