In this lesson , the sts going to learn about simple present and present continuous and read the text the Circle Line Tour . They also will discuss some questions about tourism.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification between simple present and present continuous.

  • To provide a situation about using simple present and present continuous in speaking and discussions.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (35 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The teacher asks sts to look at the photos of four top tourist attraction in new york city and make them picture have one morning in new york city . The teacher asks to sts , which two places would you like to go?

Exposure (810 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students should listen to the track about where are Eric and Ana or where are they going , then cover the dialogues .after that sts should should put the verbs in parentheses into the present continuous or the simple present.

Highlighting (58 minutes) • To draw students attention to the target language

Teacher tells to sts : these are some verbs with ing form , in this stage you should find them and make sentences with them for example : this painting makes me going to the future.

Clarification (810 minutes) • To clarify the meaning form and pronunciation of the target language

The teacher tells the sts to turn to page 133. He explains the structure of grammar part with following examples. Teacher pre_teaches new words. Students do the grammar practices on page 133 and check answers with answer key.

Controlled practice (810 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Students read the guide book extract about the Circle Line in reading part. The teacher pre_teaches new words and sts answer the questions in a. Students match the highlighted words and expressions with their meaning.every group that do it sooner on the board, is the winner. Students answer part c in reading part in a group.

Semi_Controlled practice (1015 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The teacher asks to the sts to do part of vocabulary in page 152 in every group. The teacher pre_teaches new words. He tells them choose between two colors for doing that part of vocabulary. Students will imagine they have another life and they gonna do the speaking part based on that . Then , the teacher put papers on the board and sts should guess who is he or she?

Post Listening (35 minutes) • To Provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they have learned

The teacher plays track about place names in English that are the sometimes difficult for visitors to pronounce and understand. Students listen again and repeat the place names.
