T greets the class and introduces herself and then one by one asks Ss to introduce themselves. T pushes Ss as much as possible by asking questions about them and their hobbies. Then T brings up the topic of online shopping. T asks if there is anyone that shops online, what are the ups and downs about online shopping. T shows pictures "expectations vs reality"
T points out the reading part in Unit 1 1.1.3 and then let students answer the questions and discuss the up and down sides of online shopping. T then asks Ss to fill in the gaps on language focus part on page 117 exercise 1.1.1 to test the knowledge of simple present and present continuous tense of the Ss.
According to the answers of the exercise T clarifies gramatical parts and help Ss recall the past knowledge of the said tenses. T adds the time expressions while giving example sentences to Ss. T uses language focus part to show the rules applied to the example sentences.
To check the use of the target language, T gives Handout 1 and gives Ss 5 mins to fill in the blanks. T then checks the answers with the whole class
To encourage Ss practice the language T puts Ss in pairs. Pairs practice speaking by using talking point 7 in unit 1 module 1. T observes and helps if needed. In the end T makes Ss to raise hand to the questions Ss have been discussing to give an approximate idea of the answers in general. T then makes new pairs and asks Ss to practice speaking by using talking point 8. At the end of practice T applies the same procedure as previous exercise's end.
