Description

In this lesson, students will be asked some lead in questions to generate their interest in the topic of going out with friends. After that, they will answer question 1a in a minute and then take a short matching exercise to start to know the new vocabulary in the text that they will read later. Additionally, Ss will be asked to read the text in two minutes and answer the gist question of " Where do you think the women are Rio de Janeiro, Beijing, or Moscow?". Moreover, they will be asked to do two controlled exercises and I will use the four golden rules here. Finally, they will do a free exercise of a discussion between each two of them about the last time each one of them went out.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will start the lesson with asking students questions, such as "When was your last night out?", "Where did you go?"and "Who did you meet?"

Pre-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Firstly, I will ask students to answer question 1a in a minute. Then, I will give them a matching activity to introduce the words that might be difficult for them.

Gist question: (5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist reading task

I will tell students to read the text in 3 minutes and choose, from the tree given names, the name of the country that each one of the two girls is in. I will ask ICQs , such as "How many countries will we choose?" and "Where will we write the chosen country?"

Two controlled activities (15 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I will give students the first controlled activity 2c . I will ask them to match the questions with the number of the answer in the text. I will demonstrate one or two questions. I will use ICQs such as "What will we write in the small squares here?" Numbers, "From where will we get these numbers?" The text. Here, I will use the four golden rules. Then, I will give them the second activity. I will ask them to answer these questions with yes or no and to complete them. I will demonstrate it for them . I will ask them ICQs, such as "What are we going to write here?" Yes or No, " Where will we find the answers?" The text, and " Are we going to complete the questions with did or does?"Did. Here, I will use the four golden rules.

Speaking free activity (10-13 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I will give Ss students a sheet with questions, then I will ask them to write short notes to answer these questions. After this, they will discuss these questions with their colleagues standing and moving from one colleague to another and I will ask them at the end to tell me about an interesting night out of their partners.
