Procedure (45 minutes)
T-show three pictures of a city, village and suburb and ask them to guess those places. Then, T sticks those pictures on different walls and assign 3-4 for students each picrure. After SS talk 1,5 minutes about the picture, clap your hand and Ss walk to the orther picture that they haven't talked. ICQ Will you change your picture after you finih your talking? No, after teacher claps her hand.
T- show some pictures on PPT and encourage Ss to guess the words. Then T give HO1 and SS match the pictures with the words. After that T- model and drill some of the words. After that for clarification, Ss are given slips of paper and the collocations are divided. Teacher- give each part of the word to different students and ask them to post it on their shoes. T-show/model it. Then, ask ss to satnd up and find the other part to complete the collocation. Ss/ collocations come together. And they ared to pick the correct picture for their collocation. After this, with their other parts, Ss ask question to each other to personalize the words. ICQs: Will you keep it on your hands? No, post in on shoes Will you find another verb or the collocation of the word? Collocation, After, you find your other half, will you sit? No, pick the wrigt picture. Will you finish the activity after this? No, talk about the word ans ask question.
There are 3 different kind of places so divide the reading into 3 parts. Give each part a to different group. Ss read their text individually firstly and then discuss what kind of things people do and have in those places and Each Group list them. Then, they try to guess what things people do and have in the other places that they haven't read and write their gueses on their paper. T-regroup them adn now in each group there are students who have read different places and one students start to explain his/her places and the other students check if their guesses are correct (Tick the words they have guessed correctly) and add the other informtion to complete the list. Each ss do the same thing in the group. ICQ Will you read you part to your friends? No, explain/ talk Will other students just listen to that Ss? No, tick the ones they guessed correctly and add extra on their list? T- name each corner as city, village, suburb and ask Ss to stand up and choose the place that they would like to live and go to that corner and meet with the ss who have the same idea and Ss talk about their ideas in their group and after they are done, ss are asked to match with people from different ideas.(Now in each group there are people who want to live in the other two places). This they they all share their ideas with the friends and tell why they don't want to live in those places. ICQ: Will you go to the corners randomly? No the place I want to live Will you sit after talking? No share ideas with people from differenr ideas
In this task, Ss are supposed to design an ideal place where they dream to live. T divide the Ss into groups of 3 and they are given some guide points. Ss in their goup fistly discuss each item and they can add extra things as well and create a dream place. This is a speaking task tgey don't need to write but they can take notes on their handouts.( 5 minutes) and each grouo share their ideas with other groups.
