Procedure (45 minutes)
T asks the students what the listening from previous lesson was about (meeting new people) and asks Ss to discuss these questions in pairs " what do we want to know about a person when we meethim/her for the first time? and how do we ask them ? and elicit some answers.
T-give Ss a jumbled short diologue about meeting a new person which is taken from a part of the transcript of the listening Ss focused in the previous lesson and T-ask them to work in groups of 3 and put the sentences in order to make a meaningful dialogue. They are required to remember some information from the llistening while ordering After they finish, T-project the answers.
Ss again work in their groups and find " what questions are asked in the dialogue to get to know a person? and T-ask Ss remember ex3a and add more questions to the list.
T-give a guided discovery handout to clarify meaning, form and pronunciation and ask Ss work individually and answer the questions part by part. Firstly, meaning part is clarifies, then, form and pronunciation. The Ss check their answers with pairs and whole class feedback is given.
T- ask Ss to write question tags about the people in the listening in ex 6a. They do it individually and then check with their pairs. T-project the answer key. As a second task, T ask SS to work in pairs and ask and answer the questions taking turns. Then SS-check their answers in Auidio script. T-monitors and pay attention to Ss' pronunciation. * If needed and if time, T-ask Ss do controlled activity ex7 on page 115.
Ss work in groups of 3. T-set the task; Firstly " Think about 5 other students you know in the class, Write a question with question tags for each of the to check information about them" Example: Büsra--- You are from Burdur, aren't you? Emir --- You ate insect, didn't you? ICQ: Are we asking questions to the students or write sentence firstly in our groups? How many questions do we need to write in total? Secondly After, SS finish writing questions, T-tell them to stand up, go around and ask the students their question and ask follow-up questions. Example: Aslı: Buşra, you are from Burdur, aren't you? Büsra: Yes, I am. Aslı: What is your favourite restaurant there? T monitors the Ss and get errors noted on the board and elicit corrections.
