Procedure (36-55 minutes)
* Warmer : Running dictation. Divide class in two groups. Then ask each group to select a "writer" and a" runner". Then place two short dictation texts at opposite ends if the classroom.Each "runner" runs to the text , reads the sentences and tries to remember as much as he could and then goes back to his parter and dictates the text . the group that who finishes first is the winner. Pair check. * Lead-in: show ss a picture of people talking and ask them what are the people in the picture doing. and ask them to guess where are they palnning to go?
* Pre-teaching vocabulary: show pictures of the difficult vocabulary that might block the undestandin of the listening: -musician -flat -upstairs Drilling and CCQs when necessary * Ask ss to find out where the people in the picture are going? Ask them to listen to the recording and find the answer.
* Listening for gist : ask students to listen to the recording again and try to identify the names of the people who areattending the party and write them on the picture . * Listening for detail: Ask ss to listen again and fill in the blanks with the correct words from the recording. Pair work Check answer
Take a sentence from the recording and try to elicit the tenses used in the sentence . Clarify the meaning , the form and the pronunciation of the present continuous.T Task 1: Ask ss to fill in the blanks with a present simple or present continuous tense form.. Ask the ss to do the "Nosy Neighbours" activity: " Show the picture of the street and neighbours. Explain that each person lives in one of the houses and is doing something. Divide the ss in two groups and explain that each student must get a card from me describing what is happening in a particular house. The students must run back to his/her group , read out his/her card and the group must much the activities described to one house in the street .The next student must return the card and collect a new one .Explain that when they will finish the activity ,they will be left with one house with no activity, and one activity with no house. The first team to find the correct answer is the winner".
