Procedure (47-60 minutes)
Tell the students to imagine that they live in their ideal world. Look at the screen and think about these three questions and discuss it with their partners feedback whole class
students will dead the questions in Getting personal and then they match two answers with each question. They should try to guess which answers are Isabella Rossellini’s and which are Joaquin Cortes’s. First, they are given time to do it alone and then they will check their answers together and for feedback, the answers will be shown on the screen
1. Students are going to look at the board where there are four questions about the questionnaire : In questions 1-4 what tense is the verb in the if clause What tense is the other verb? How is question 5 different? Do the questions refer to real or imaginary situations? They will answer the questions in pairs and feedback is on the screen 2.for the next stage I will write two sentences on the board : If I had more money, I would buy a house. then I will ask the students CCQs which are: can I buy a house now? Is it likely? No, you can't buy a house. It's not likely Is it an imaginary situation or is it in the real world? It is imaginary I would elicit more examples from the students. 3. Then for the sentence on the board, I will elicit different part of speech of the words and will elicit and write with another color. 4. I will read the sentence loud and try to catch their attention on the board with sentence stress and drill the sentence with the full and short form of would. If it goes well, I will have some substitution drilling as well.
There are 5 gap fill sentences with provided verbs. They should fill in the blanks to make second conditional sentences and then they will choose two of the sentences to write a question and ask their pair for their answer. Feedback orally one by one and correction on the spot is needed.
Students will be given cards with some phrases on them. SS sit in pairs A and B face to face. Students A will ask B questions and B's are going to answer A's questions and then asks A another question from the card.
