Procedure (28-41 minutes)
T asks sts if they like to live in a small town (Kemer) or in a big city (Istanbul) . By using some 'Why' and What is there in ..... ? questions T tries to elicit more answers from sts.
T sticks photos from different places in a city, town or village to different parts of the class and and tries to elicit the familiar words from them. T does drilling when necessary. In the next step T divides sts into two groups. Each group is given a set of words written on cards. Sts look at the words and try to put them under the correct pictures on the wall. T helps sts with wrong answers and clarifies their meaning and put them under the right picture.
T sticks pictures of a city, a town and a village on the w/b. Sts look at the pictures and say which one is a town or a city or a village. ( T clarifies the meaning of these 3 words since they might be blocking words in the listening.) Sts are then asked to work into 3 groups and make sentences ( possibly with there is or there are) and say which of the pictures in class can be found in the three main pictures.
T gives handouts of the listening part to students. Before starting the while-listening part, T asks sts to pay attention to the stressed words in some sentences from the listening. T asks students to listen to the listening part and try to match the speakers with the pictures. Sts are asked to match them with three questions written on the second handouts given to them. They are then asked to work in pairs to compare their answers.
T asks sts to look at their handouts once again and try to remember which sentences are related to each picture. They are then asked to work in pairs and check their answers with their partners. They will listen to the listening part for the second time to check their answers.
Sts work in groups to say which one of the three places they would like to go and why? Then they are asked to compare their answers with other groups and decide which place is the most popular.
