In this lesson, students will read a short descriptive text about two famous resorts.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of describing places in the context of holiday resorts

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

There are 4 pieces of papers on the wall. Students will be asked to walk around the room and stand in front of their favorite holiday resort. they should provide reasons for choosing the place by sharing their ideas together and to the class

Exposure (5-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students read a short descriptive text about two famous holiday resorts and then they are given time to try to highlight the adjectives in the text. they will compare their answers together.

Highlighting (10-15 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

new vocabulary will be introduced with PW slides focusing on MFP. for meaning clarification CCQs and for each lexis elicit one sentence. for form part of speech is shown and will be highlighted alongside one or two collocations. For pronunciation, the stressed syllables are shown with drilling choral individual and back chain.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

SS will do ex2 which is a true or false activity. the false adjectives in the sentences should be corrected. Check their answers with pairs and whole class feedback. then a handout

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

a matching handout will be given and ss try to answer individually and then pair check. feedback on the board from each pair ss will come to the board and write.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

SS work in pairs and discuss their favorite choice of holiday. they will answer to ex3 of the handout.
