To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of jobs
Procedure (38-55 minutes)
T begins by asking students if they have jobs. T prepare questions on the board: 1. Do you like you your job? why? 2. If yo don't have a job, What would like it to be?why? 3. when would you like to change you r job? ( give reasons)
- T pre-teach these words ( fed up - plumber - depressed - desperated ) in the listening text. - T asks CCQs to check meaning.
- Listening for gist, T asks students to look at the names on the board/projector, listen to the track and decide the picture that goes with the speaker and write the name of the speaker under the picture. - After listening to the fist track, T monitor to make sure that they all got it right. - After listening to 'the tracks, T asks students to check in pairs. - T gives students feedback.
- T gives the instructions of HO2, and tells students that they have a table about the three people in the listening; they have to listen carefully to fill in the table about each person in the audio track. - T asks students if they want to listen again to the tracks. - Students check in pairs their answers. - T gives students feedback. - T gives the instructions of Ho3, asking ICQS like : Are you going to write sentences? Are you going to mark true/false? - After they finish, T asks the students if the want to listen again to the tracks - T gives ss feedback
- T asks ss the following Qs to discuss in pairs/groups: - Would you like to do what any of these people are doing? why? why not? - Do you think they have made the right decisions or do you think they will regret it? - Are there any jobs that men/ women are naturally better suited to,do you think? - In your country is it common for people to leave stressful jobs and start a new life in the country?What do you think of this idea?
