Materials
Main Aims
-
to review and practice forming regular/irregular past simple verbs in the context of relationships.
Subsidiary Aims
-
to improve their reading skills such as scanning and skimming, to learn new vocabulary
Procedure (36-47 minutes)
I am going to ask some relevant questions and get students' feedback. For instance, "do you believe in love at first sight? why?why not?", "where are good places to meet new people?", "what things can cause problems in a relationship?".
In this stage students will look at the titles of texts and try to predict their contents. I will ask some questions to check their understanding of the texts.
Students will get familiar with the texts and then start to do a True/False task related to them. After checking their tasks we'll discuss which love story they liked most and why.
Students will do a vocabulary task and guess the definitions of phrases from the context.
Students will underline examples of verbs in the past simple in the texts, then complete the gaps in the HO. They will also identify negative and question forms of the past simple tense form.
In the last stage of the lesson students will practice what they've learned in the lesson. They will complete the sentences with the correct form of the past simple. Following this, I will ask them to write five important dates of their lives on the WB and their peers will ask questions about those dates which all will be in the past simple tense form.
