To provide practice of functional language used for asking and answering questions when traveling in the context of airport travel
Procedure (33-50 minutes)
HO blank pieces of paper and tell Ss copy what they see on board onto paper End results will be a passport and ticket I will then elicit topic from Ss
Pairs Using Gap-fill HO, Ss will see vocabulary in familiar airport check-in context and put appropriate words into corresponding boxes. Ss peer check answers before WGFB (if necessary) Also review the necessary short answers to the gap-fill questions
Using the Gap-fill HO, Ss will read queue card prompts and perform a short role play between a passenger and an Airline check-in agent.
Ss will work together in pairs (or groups optionally) to match questions and answers for a conversation between a student and an immigration officer. Once complete, Ss will read and interact for the first practice Teacher will monitor
Using role play queue cards and language from matching sheet, one student A will play the role of a traveler and Student B will be the immigration officer at passport control. When complete change roles
Teacher will write discussion topic on front board Ss will all sit together in groups of 4 or 5 and take turns talking about their experiences in airports domestically and internationally.
