Subsidiary Aims
-
to practice functional language in the same context
Procedure (37-47 minutes)
- I'll show them a set of pictures and let them guess what we are talking about today. - After setting the topic, I'll have them do a matching exercise for today's vocabulary (PTV stage) - Check the answers.
-I'll write one the board in three points: place, food/drink and activity. - I'll ask students to discuss these three items in pairs in light of their personal experience when they have a day out. I'll model for clarification. - I'll take a model of their answers as a feedback.
-We'll cover section 5 in lesson 5C ( the speaking and pronunciation task) - I'll ask students to read the prompts and form questions, then answer these questions in a short form. -In the feedback stage: I'll elicit the question forms from them and then they will listen to the question forms and notice the intonation and stress.
- I'll put students in pairs and ask them to ask each other these previous questions. - students will keep changing pairs. I'll be monitoring during this task. -I'll take a model of their answers as a feedback. - An extra task: if we have time left, I'll distribut a worksheet on ' boys' night out'. In pairs they're going to form sentences from the pictures they have. -Open feedback.
After the last task, we'll have an open feedback and correction for language errors.
