To provide gist reading practice using a text about Cleopatra in the context of 'Fact or fiction?'

To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of 'Fact or Fiction?'
Procedure (42-50 minutes)
T provides a visual of Cleopatra and elicit students' ideas about it. 'Is she a queen or king?' 'Is she from Egypt or Turkey?'
The teacher will elicit, check, drill and write the key vocabulary (ancient, luxury, battle, poison)on the W/B that the students will encounter in the text they will read. T will use gestures while she elicits the key words. T will also provide the stresses of the words during the dirlling and writing. SS will receive example sentences from the reading which will help them for the next activity.
T will divide the students into pairs and provide 2 HOs in which there will be facts and legends about Cleopatra. T will give simple instructions and ask ICQs. Students will try to find which part is giving the facts and which part is giving the legends about Cleopatra. They will work in pairs and WCFB will be given.
T will provide the structure of negative sentences in past simple tense. T will give HO from the book pg. 152 which is a chart showing the parts of speech and form. T will write some example sentences to the W/B from the reading text and clarify it. T will provide the stress of the auxiliaries and SS will do drilling.
T will give short, simple instructions and ICQs. SS will find the negative past sentences from the text and underline the auxiliaries. SS will check in pairs and WCFB will be done.
Students will work in pairs and discuss. T will provide visuals of antique times and HOs and give short simple instructions and ICQ will be done. SS will make simple dialogues to discuss which things people did/didn't in ancient times.
SS will use useful language and put the sentences into the correct form (positive or negative) to make them true for themselves. Teacher will demonstrate first then SS will work in pairs and make short dialogues considering their real life.
