Procedure (58-75 minutes)
Ss are shown 5 pictures of different companies. T asks them to discuss in pairs what they know and remember about these companies (what they produce, the number of employees etc). Optionally prompts can be displayed on the board with the ideas of what kind of info the Ss should discuss. The Ss are divided in pairs, each pair gets a company. T monitors and makes notice of what language /what language patterns is/are produced by the Ss. T makes notes. After they discuss it in pairs, T asks each pair to give content feedback and puts the TL (elicited ) on the board.
Reading the text p 6 in the textbook and matching the pics to the description. First individually, then peer check, then reporting to the class.
Drawing Ss' attention to the highlighted words in the text. Q& A session, elicting and CCQs.
Showing pics representing the TL and putting pics on the board together with writing the wors/phrases/sentences highlighting the target word. MPF clarification.
For controlled practice: ex 2 p 7 ( individual-peer check). ( Individual- peer check- class check). Ex 1-3 p 102 (Practice file)- optional. ( Individual- peer check- class check). 'Snap' game with the pics. (in pairs). Matching sentences' halves. ( Individual- peer check- class check).
1) Ex 3 p 7 ( Individual- peer check- class check). 2) Ss get the cards with yet other logos of companies. In pairs Ss try to peak on the company not showing the pic to the partner and the partner tries to guess the company. 3) ex 4 p 7 (listening and filling-in the table)- optional. ( Individual- peer check- class check).
'Imagine you have all been invited to a business conference where you have to present your company'. You'll get a logo of a company you represent. Prepare the presentation of the company in pairs ( opt. using prompts in ex 5 p 7). You will also prepare to questions to ask to other presenters at the end of the speech. Ss prepare, then present and answer the questions. Content and language feeback. If time allows, T projects the logo of Epam on the board and Ss finally one-by-one produce a sentence about their company < which might be used in a presentation.
