Main Aims

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I'll ask students : Do you like fast food? What kind of health problems are caused by eating too much fast food?

Pre-Reading/Listening (5 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I'll ask students to look at the photos and read about the TV series, A taste of the past .Answer the questions *What happens in each week's programme ? *Who are Sadie , James , Jackie and Steve ? then let them check in pairs , then I'll listen to their answers

While-Reading/Listening #1 (10 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

1 I'll ask students to listen to part one of the series and complete the table about what rich people and poor people ate in the Elizabethan diet. 2 I'll divide the students into two groups and give them the pictures and cards to match the word with the picture and drill the hard words. 3 I'll ask the students to listen to part 2 and tick the things that happened to the Lawrances.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (12 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

I'll tell them to read the questions then listen to the two parties of the series and answer the questions. tell them to check their answers in pairs then I'll check with them.

Post-Reading/Listening (8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

I'll ask students to discuss with each other this question( Would you like to try Elizabethan food? Why? Why not ? I'll take notes during the discussion and correct them in the end .
