Description

In this lesson, students learn about present perfect with for and since. The lesson will start with a discussion about house followed by some new vocabulary and a controlled practice then the lesson continues by two reading texts about two people who live in 2 different unusual house, this part can follow by jigsaw to save the time and be more creative, Students should find detail information in the texts then they will asked to think about the sentences which used in the text which is present perfect with for and since,lesson follow up with CCQs and meaning by some controlled practices that SS should fill the gaps with FOR and Since and choose the correct form between present simple and present perfect while students learned how to use this form by using some clines.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of Present perfect with For and Since in the context of Home sweet home, family , Travel,live in unusual house

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about Two different people talk about living at two different unusual house in the context of travel,familly,

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

As lesson followed by a discussion about a home I will show students some different pictures related to the topic to introduce the vocabulary which used in the text, SS will be grouped and talk about their home while they should use 5 phrases which used in the text

Exposure (5-8 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students read two different texts about some people who live in some unusual house followed by a controlled exercise to find details about the mentioned people. I will use it as jigsaw reading to save the time for the following language

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

To read the text again to draw students attention to the highlighted part to introduce them grammar which used in the text

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

This part starts to ask some CCQs about the people which live in those houses, then by drawing cline related to the text SS understand how to use it in the following they will see the form of the used grammar

Controlled Practice (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

there is a controlled practice SS should fill the gaps with FOR or SINCE to understand more how to use them in the proper time

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

SS should choose a correct between past simple and present perfect form then fill the gaps with some information about themselves, finally, they can read their sentences for the class
