Description

This lesson continues with a similar context to the previous lesson but changes the focus to grammar that Ss were exposed to in the listening in the previous lesson. Some of the Ss may know this grammar, but they still need review and practice.

  • To provide clarification, review and practice of present perfect and simple past in the context of Lifelong

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide Speaking accuracy

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To engage Studens in the lesson and to make a link to the previous lesson

Show pictures of the three interviewd person and ask students what do they remmeber about them?

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Connect ther context to the previous lesson further and focus Ss on the TL by putting the marker sentences from the listening up on the w/b (ex1) or elicit them see if the Ss can remember what Pierre said about art other subjects at school.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ex 1 p.19, ask students to think about it, do the LA for present perfect and past simple. Ex 2 on p.19 are useful for guided discovery that Students can work on in pairs/small groups. In FB clarify meaning so you are sure all Ss are clear, you could use a timeline here, and recheck form. And. drill for pronunciation

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Practice: Ex. 1 on p. 133 , Let Ss work in groups, peers check answers, then W/C FB.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

ex. 5 on p.19 with adaption to make it more personlazation, delayed error correction in FB.
