Procedure (37-41 minutes)
Students see some pictures on the board related to the job.They match them with the words on the board and in pairs they talk about what is important about their job, if they are happy with their job and why.
Teacher sets the task.Learners read for the main idea.Each pair of students read one of the posting ,report back on the posting they read.the teacher asks the learners to come up with the ideas of the task about job satisfaction/dissatisfaction. : friendly atmosphere great salary flexible working hours happy/unhappy people
Focus Ss on the TL by putting the marker sentences from the reading up on the w/b (Grammar ex1) – or elicit them – or ask Ss to find what Marco and Lauren101 say about the time in their jobs
Grammar: The teacher focuses on for/since so follow the stages of a PPP or guided discovery lesson doing Ex 1 that Ss can work on in pairs/small groups (refer to p.133 for some analysis). In FB clarify meaning so you are sure all Ss are clear. MEANING Present perfect+since/for is used to talk about situations which began in the past and continue in the present.(Marco and Lauren are still in CSP.They still work there). FORM - Have/has+past participle form of the verb - we use for with a period of time (for a week,for six month) - we use since when something started(since 2008, since Monday). PRONUNCIATION • • I've worked here since 2008. /əv/ Have is pronounced /əv/
Practice: Ex. 1 on p. 133 (Present Perfect 2) individually and then students can check in pairs. then the teacher checks with whole class.students write four sentences about themselves using the ideas in the exercise.then the teacher collects the sentences.
Ex. 2 on p.21 is semi-controlled practice.The teacher reads the papers aloud and the students guess who wrote them.
The teacher gives learners a worksheet and asks to look at the person in the picture who talks about the facts which is true now. then students in pairs turn to read about the information which is true for them.
