Description

This lesson continues with the context from the previous lesson. It reviews present perfect simple, which the Students already know, and helps them to think about time expressions they can use with it.

Materials

  • To provide clarification and practice of present perfect simple and related time expressions

  • To provide accuracy in speaking about past experiences

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (6-8 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

1- Stick printouts that show "Have you ever" and related lexical verbs 2- At the center, ask the Ss the rest of the printouts that show the endings of the question on board. Tell them to complete the questions with the appropriate endings. 3- There are 12 printouts, one for each student. They will stick the printout to the board. 4- Check the answers

Language Practice (5-6 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

1- Draw attention and tell the Ss that I will show 5 answers. 2 of them are incorrect and 3 of them are correct. I will show one by one and ask the Ss if the printout I show is correct or not. give Feedback if necessary. 2- Tell the first student on the right side of class to ask the first question on the board to her/his partner, and partner choose among the answers on the board. Then the student who has answered, asks the second question to the next student. I drill and make the Ss repeat if they fail to pronounce accurately.

Language Analysis (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

1- Draw attention, show the third exercise on New Inside Out handout. Give and check instructions. Give out materials. 4 minutes. 2- Check answers

Reading-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

1- Show the handout on chest and point out the first exercise in listening part. Give&check instructions. 2- Play the tracks "1.12", "1.13", "1.14" 3- Check answers 4- Put the students in pairs and ask them to ask and answer questions in exercise 1. 4 minutes.

Productive Task (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity for the students to compete with each other

1- Group students into 3-4 teams (depends on the number of students). Show Straightforward Int handout and point out Landmarks. Check if they know the word "landmark". Tell them that they are going to compete with each other, discuss two questions below. 1 point for each one. 10 minutes monitor. Help each group. 2- Check answers and write the scores on the board. Congratulate everyone. 3- If there is still time, tell the Ss to ask their partner the questions in A-B section of the handout. Monitor.
