Procedure (23-45 minutes)
Teacher shows pictures in order which gives a clue about the topic. SS are expected to tell their assumptions for the topic and teacher asks some questions that lead SS to the right assumption. Then, teacher asks students to look at the pictures of the White House. SS are expected to describe the picture they see in the book. (Exercise 1)
Teacher asks students to first work alone and complete the exercise two. SS are expected to decide whether the statements are true or false. After they are done, Teacher asks SS to compare answers with a partner. Then, SS are expected to read the text and check their answers (exercise 3) together with their partner. Teacher monitors and picks up points to deliver afterwards. After they are done with reading the text, teacher asks SS to share their answers with the whole class. If needed, teacher provides feedback for the answers.
Teacher splits up the text and gives the questions on exercise four accordingly. Students are expected to answer their own group questions. After they finish, teacher asks SS to tell their answers to the group members. Teacher monitors and gives the answer sheets for SS to check their answers. If needed, teacher provides feedback. 1st Group gets the first part of the text with questions 2,3,4,5, and 2nd Group gets the intro and second part of the text with questions 1,7,8,9
Teacher asks students to get into two different groups and work on exercise 5. SS are expected to find the numbers with their references in their text. After group work, students are asked to find someone from the other group and tell answers to each other. Teacher monitors and picks up points, if needed, provides feedbacks.
Teacher asks SS to close their books and think for a few minutes what they remember about the topic. Students are expected to write down a few things as a summary of the topic. Teacher, then, asks some of the students to share their things with the whole class. *This exercise may not be completed due to time limit.
