Procedure (44-55 minutes)
- show SS a video for Mr. Bean while he was in the cinema. - discuss the video with SS and ask them the following questions: where do you think he was in that video? (in the cinema) what was he trying to do? (smoking, eating, drinking, using the mobile) was that against the rules there? - ask ss to discuss in groups what other rules people should follow in the cinema. discuss the ideas with the whole class.
-ask SS to start by answering exercise #1 -chose some of the places to handle, not all of them. -elicit an example before SS work in pairs -monitor -as SS to check their answers in pairs. -feedback - ask ss to answer exercise #2 -check the meaning of sign and focus the ss attention on the pictures. - give ss two minutes to think about the meaning of the signs in this exercise. - monitor o check if they have any difficulty in understanding signs or vocabs. -ask ss to check in pairs. - feedback. -ask SS to move to exercise #3 -explain that there may be one or two sentences that are not true about each sign. - discuss with them the first example before they start answering. -ask SS to check their answers in pairs. - feedback
-After knowing SS weaknesses through monitoring, I will start clarifying the models used for obligation and permission briefly stressing on SS mistakes to correct it. - OCFB.
- ask SS to move to exercise one P113 - emphasis that SS have to complete the sentences to make them mean the same as the signs. -SS work in pairs and write their answers. -give SS the feedback by a record. If there is enough time, T will ask SS to answer exercise 2 or a part of it, in pairs.
- ask SS to choose any three places that come to their minds and make a list of the most important rules for each place. - ask Ss to work in groups, or pairs, read the rules to their groups but without saying the place. others should guess the place. - giving feedback
