Procedure (32-47 minutes)
An activity is done in which T whispers a sentence to a learner and asks to pass it to the other learners. T tells " I am feeling ill ".
The T writes the sentence told first and later told by this student on the board. T elicits the difference between direct and indirect speech from SS. " I am feeling ill". She said that she was feeling ill.
T elicits the form and structure of reported speech from students through examples.
T gives handouts of tense change and time phrase change in reported speech to SS.
T elicits different type of sentences and its form change in reported speech by showing some pictures from students. 1. Mother says, " Be quiet " Imperative sentence Mother said to be quiet. 2." I want a pizza now", he said. He said that he wanted a pizza then. (Assertive sentence) 3. She asks, "Are you coming with me?". (Interrogative sentence) She asked if he was coming with her. 4. Mary says " Oh! it is very wonderful car".(Exclamatory sentence) Mary exclaimed with surprise that the car was very wonderful.
T asks the learners to assume that one of them are a celebrity and other is going to interview the celebrity. After that T asks to prepare a report over the interview.
