Materials
Main Aims
-
To provide practice of friendship vocabulary in the context of 'still friends'.
Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of 'think of a close friend' .
Procedure (27-40 minutes)
T elicits the word friendship using a game, then T starts a conversation with the ss asking about their friends, for example, ' How is your best friend'? ' When was the last time you saw him/her'? 'Where did you met'?.. T listens to their answers and generates their interests about the topic.
T starts to present the vocabulary in situational presentation. T checks the ss understanding of meaning by asking CCQ's, then drills three times and the ss drill three times as well, then T writes the form on the WB showing the stress and type of word.
Now, T asks the ss to complete the text with the phrases. The ss will work alone then check their answers with a partner. T elicits the ss answers after they finish, and provide answer keys as a feedback.
T demonstrates the task carefully, T tells the ss that they will think of a close friend of theirs, then in pairs they will ask and answer the following questions: How long have you known him/her? Where did you meet? What do you have in common? Do you ever argue? What about?, etc.... After pair work, the ss can practise the same questions with a different person. T takes notes, to provide a delayed feedback.
