Main Aims

  • To provide review, practice and clarification of desire, planning to, or necessity do something in the context of going to new cities and meet new people

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of going to new places and meet new people

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (8-9 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show Ss some activities-related words on the board. Ss discuss what activities you like, which ones you have a plan to do. Ss will work in pairs to talk about it.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Give them HOs of ex 11.b page 193. Ss work in pairs. Ss Find the best pictures for each sentence and write appropriate verbs in blank spaces.

Teach (8-10 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

By eliciting sentences from Ss on the board and CCQing them prepare for drilling then phonology, then forms of the verbs.

Test #2 (5-7 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

do ex 3 on page 87. Ss repeat the sentences, when the teacher changes name of the activity, change the activity but keep the verb or vice versa.

semi-controlled practice 2# (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

give them HOs of ex.4 on page 87.Ss Talk about what they want to do, where they are planning to go etc. Ss will work in pairs.

semi-controlled practice 1# (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Give them HOs of ex.11.b on page 239. Write where they want to go, what they plan to do etc, then discuss what you like with their partner.
