Main Aims

  • To provide gist, scan, detailed and inference reading practice using a text about travel in the context of go on a trip with backpacks

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a interview in the context of how to travel
  • To provide review of lexis related to travel in the context of travel with backpacks

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-7 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Show a picture of travelers on the road who are singing. Ss discuss what these travelers are doing, Ss work in pairs. initiate the give ideas about vocabulary items necessary.

Pre-Reading/Listening (5-7 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

give them Ho of papers access online. Ss fill in the blank, work in individually, then share your answers.

While-Reading/Listening #1 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

Give Ss Hos of ex.3 on page 90.Ss decide which sentence is correct. Ss work individually, then share your answers.

While-Reading/Listening #2 (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

Give them HOs of ex 4..Ss answer questions.Ss work individually, then share your answers.

while-reading 3# (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Give them the What do you know exercise to talk.Ss talk about these questions, Ss work in pairs. The teacher will reflect and ask for ideas.

Post-Reading (5-7 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Give ss the hound outs of role play section.Ss talk to their partners who are journalists and want to interview them. Ss do this in pairs. monitor them and give them delayed error corrections.
