Procedure (40-48 minutes)
A picture will show up on the WB using the OHP with the context of I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done. Teacher asks do they agree with this? and why?
Students will get HO1 which is the reading part on page 51 of the book. They will have 5 minutes to go over the text and then discuss with a partner whether they agree with the comments or not and why (The question will appear on the OHP) At the end of the time limit a WCFB will wrap up the stage in which the teacher will ask who agrees with (each character)? and why (not)?
The Ss will be asked to find and underline 6 sentences in the text with wish. They will do it in the same pairs and then they will be asked what tense is used after WISH. Text will be shown on the board using the OHP and the forms will be underlined by the teacher. The teacher will elicit the form of the verbs after wish (past simple and past pefect)
The underlined chunks of the text will help the Ss compare the two forms. Teacher will elicit the form of the verbs after wish. Then Ss will be asked to tell the difference between the two forms. CCQs will claridfy the difference of the forms and meanings.
The Ss will listen to 5 speakers who talk about their personal lives and regrets. Then they will match 6 sentences (1 is extra) to each speaker (1 to 5) which will be handed to them as HO2. This stage will be done individually. For the feedback the answers will show up using OHP (slide4)
At this stage Ss will get into pairs and listen to the audio again. They will get HO3 and they will discuss why each speaker mentioned the sentences on the HO3. For each speaker the audio will be paused and the Ss will have time to discuss it.
The Ss will be directed to the OHP which shows 4 questions that they will discuss in groups of 3.
