Description

This lesson students are going to learn about superlatives and possible vocabulary items that they may not know. Ss read a passage about Camden market and choose proper superlative adjectives in the blank spaces.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of Superlatives in the context of market

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of market related vocabulary in the context of market
  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of owning different kinds of houses
  • To provide gist listening practice using a text about superlatives in the context of market

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ss are Shown a picture of Camden market and asked what Camden Market is famous for, what are the places to go or largest to go

Test #1 (5-7 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Ss are asked to read the text about Camden Market and do Ex 1. Then they are asked to do peer checking on the answers.

Teach (5-7 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Ss are explained some problems that they had during the activity or they might have been confusing by eliciting

Test #2 (20-28 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Ss do ex 1(listening) to know if they understood the grammar correctly. If they need more exercises, they can do ex 2 and 3 on page 73. Ss will peer check their answers. They will practice more exercises that improve their knowledge on superlatives

Free practice (5-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Ss do ex in pages 150 and 153 in groups of three. They discuss the nicest, the most expensive, the biggest houses that they are pretending they have.
